NECROLOGY OPEN CALL 2025

Artist-Curator Victoria Sharples invites interdisciplinary submissions for an exhibition to be held at Haarlem Artspace in Wirksworth in partnership with NMRG (New Materialist Reading/Research Group) & Playing Fields.

Deadline for submission: April 18, 2025, at 12:00 noon

This call invites works in any form (i.e. sculpture, drawing) & may be informed (but is not limited) by the following subjects:

necropolis & funerary architecture: sites of mourning, chapels, mounds, burial-grounds
material afterlives: cycles of endings & beginnings, permanence and transformation
necro-ecologies: ecological grief, humus ecology (decomposers), remains, space-time-matterings
death-care: rituals of care, grave keeping, mortuary practices, grief work

The exhibition opens June 12 & runs from: June 12–15 (with accompanying public events happening across the weekend).
