About
Dr. Victoria Sharples (she/they) is an artist, researcher & curator. Sharples is Co-director of GLOAM (gallery & studios) in Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Conservation Area (CIQ). They are Lecturer in the School of Arts at the University of Derby & Co-lead NMRG (the New Materialist Reading/Research Group) with Dr. Rebecca Howard.
The materiality of Sharples’ work is often the subject, where conditions such as permanence and impermanence – suspension, preservation, and curing; secretion, porousness, and pooling– infer relationalities between human and non-human bodies, space-time matterings and necro-ecologies. The works produced as part of this practice often take the form of site-specific sculptures, time-sensitive performances, and written publications.
