“GLOAM selected pieces that were materially unreliable, performative in their appearance: camouflaged structures that called for surveillance (Sam Hutchinson); analogue-digitalities (Duncan Poulton); constructions mimicking industrial-organic forms (Julia McKinlay); familiar objects that seemed repulsive to touch (Will Hughes); and an ersatz birdhouse replicating historic, timbered architecture (Sam Hewland). The exhibition presented works that were fabricated, cladded, and called upon a 'veneered sensibility' through the semi-fictional, synthetic, and faux-textured”.
